Back up, restore and move computers

In Settings → Backup & Restore create a backup, then use the existing Export backup action to keep an independent copy away from the same disk. Check the file exists. Backups beside the workspace are useful, but do not protect against losing the whole disk. Save active writing before copying files.

To restore, preserve the current workspace first, import the intended backup using the supported controls and confirm the restore operation. To move computers, use a verified backup or a complete closed workspace copy, then reconnect it on the new machine. Include associated media and your separate license/provider settings as appropriate; do not assume a manuscript export is a complete workspace backup. If validation fails, stop and keep both copies.
